Not Just A Line
- Partition Stories from the Pages of Literature
In 1947, a line was drawn across a subcontinent — but it wasn’t just a border. It was a rupture through homes, histories, languages, and lives. It left scars that still echo through generations. But even in that moment of darkness, voices rose — to bear witness, to grieve, to remember and sometimes, to forgive.
"Not Just a Line" brings together stories of Partition as captured by some of the most powerful literary voices of the time — Krishan Chander, Amrita Pritam, Khwaja Ahmed Abbas and others. These writers chronicled the pain, absurdity, courage, and quiet dignity of ordinary people caught in extraordinary upheaval.
This event is a journey through their words — through readings, and reflective conversations. Stories that make us confront uncomfortable truths, but also remind us of the small acts of kindness and humanity that survived even the most violent of divides.
Join us as we return to the literature of Partition — not just to remember but to reflect on what still connects us. Because what was drawn was not just a line — it was a mirror, a memory, and a legacy we still carry.
