Join us on October 16, 6-8 pm for Freakish Folklore - a collection of six uncanny stories, myths and legends exploring Lawrence County’s darker side written and narrated by local historian and Hoyt Collection’s Director, Robert A. Presnar.
They include:
“A Ghost In A Bushel Basket or a Newsman’s Folly”, a cautionary tale that serves as a warning not to meddle in otherworldly phenomena!
“The Many Ghosts of Big Run”, a local legend explaining how a cantankerous cow, an imaginative young boy, an iconic covered bridge, and a torn bag of flour combine to bring a tale full of goosebumps and laughter.
“West Pittsburg’s Dancing Lights – Ghost, Angel, or Something More Down to Earth?”, a spine tingling retelling of the events that captivated local citizens and attracted large crowds throughout the summer of 1919.
“A Boy, A Box, and Two Skulls”, a macabre adventure that proves some things sealed should stay that way.
“Shivers In Shenango”, Prensar’s most popular tale conjuring up images of a frost covered meadow, a lonely rural lane, and a country cemetery where the inhabitants occasionally set aside their peaceful repose for an evening jaunt.
The stories will be presented in combination with the author’s original illustrations. Free.
Admission is free. Registration Requested
