DWM 51st Annual Meeting & Program

The public is cordially invited to attend the DWM Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the James Arnold Mansion (a/k/a Wamsutta Club), 427 County Street, New Bedford, MA, from noon to 3 p.m. One does not need to be a member to attend and enjoy the luncheon and program, which will follow. Luncheon menu options are baked scrod, baked stuffed breast of chicken, or Caesar salad with grilled chicken.

This year’s program will be a one-man play about Herman Melville, “Sailing Towards my Father,” written by Carl A. Rossi, and performed by Stephen Collins. Stephen Collins grew up in Cambridge and received a BA in Literature from UMass Boston. After twenty-plus years in a sales career, he is back doing what he truly loves – performing and teaching.

The play chronicles Melville’s life from youth to old age, concentrating on his evolution as a writer and his complex relations with God, his parents and siblings, his wife and children, and Nathanial Hawthorne.
