Sunset Bay Walk

Join us for a relaxing and educational evening stroll along the beautiful shores of Netarts Bay and the surrounding beach. This in-person event is the perfect way to unwind after a long day and enjoy the natural beauty of the Oregon Coast. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture the stunning sunset views!

Marine bioligist, professional photographer, and WEBS volunteer Jim Young will be guiding the walk and providing information about interesting beach finds, bay ecology, and more along the way. Additionally, if you are looking for advice on capturing the beauty of Netarts Bay with your camera, Jim is happy to share photography tips.

What to bring:

• Comfortable walking shoes
• Reusable water bottle
• Snacks, if desired
• Binoculars are highly encouraged. We will have a few pairs available to borrow and share.
• The climate can change quickly along the coast, ranging from warm to cool and breezy, so please bring the gear you need to stay comfortable.
• This is a dog-friendly event. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on leash.

Meeting Location: Check-in for the event is at the Netarts Bay Boat Ramp (2065 Netarts Basin Boat Rd, Tillamook, OR 97141). Look for the Friends of Netarts Bay flags and signs.

After checking in, WEBS Naturalists will lead the group to Schooner Beach for the event.

This event will take place outdoors. If bad weather develops, the event coordinators will reach out to registered participants.

Cost: There is no cost to attend this program. Donations are appreciated.

This is an Explore Nature cross-listed event. Explore Nature is a series of hikes, walks, paddles, and outdoor adventures led by a consortium of volunteer community and non-profit organizations. These meaningful nature-based experiences highlight the unique beauty of Tillamook County and the work being done to preserve and conserve the area’s natural resources and natural resource-based economy. Terrain: Participants should be prepared to navigate over ~1 - 2 miles over flat gravel, dry sand, and wet sand. We will make multiple stops throughout the journey to discuss ecology and history of the area.

We understand everyone learns and experiences the outdoors differently and we are open to working with anyone that needs additional support. We have limited capacity.
