Trail Running Technique Workshop - Saturday 20th September 2025
Running on the trails is a great way to improve your fitness, experience the beauty of nature and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life – if you do it right! Come and learn the joys of running off the beaten track and learn the skills to tackle any terrain.
Hosted by our Running Coach and Physio Dave Coombs. You will learn:
- Running uneven technical ground
- Downhill running safely and quickly
- Uphill skills including running and powerhiking with poles
- Techniques for picking efficient lines
- Tips on equipment, footwear, hydration.
You will also get a chance to check out some fantastic trails in the Nerang National Park.
Very friendly small group workshop with some personal assessment of your technique as well as group-based sessions. Suitable for most ages** and abilities (see below for minimum fitness standards.

Duration: 2 hours
Location: Nerang State Forest - meet Lawnhill Drive Park (note this is not at the Velodrome entrance)
Time: 7am - 9am
Cost: $50 per person (pay on the day)
What to bring: Running shoes and clothes, hat, sunscreen, water
**How fit do I need to be?
Total running distance will be about 4km in the two hours including a few hills. The pace of the session is very easy and would suit anyone from a complete novice trail runner to someone with some prior experience wishing to improve their technique.
Junior runners are very welcome, although we'd suggest a minimum age of 12 (please contact me if you aren't sure).
