REVEL REVEL is a new community dance festival bringing our people together in a celebration of movement. Hosted at the iconic Pohara Hall, this inclusive, intergenerational festival invites everyone—from toddlers to elders—to participate in a joyful weekend of dance, connection, and creativity.
OUR MISSION is to strengthen and grow our local dance community by creating a shared space for learning, cultural exchange, and celebration. By welcoming teachers from beyond Mohua, we aim to enrich our local practices with new perspectives and skills, offering both students and teachers a chance to evolve and be inspired.
REVEL REVEL will feature a diverse lineup of daytime workshops taught by experienced local and visiting kaiako. Styles include ecstatic dance, family dance, ballet, contemporary, contact improvisation, kapa haka, balfolk, contra dance, salsa, dance for older adults, Brazilian and belly dance. These workshops are designed to be accessible and engaging for all skill levels and age groups.
In the evenings, the festival will showcase performances by our tamariki and rangatahi, celebrating their creativity and growth through dance.
This festival is for everyone. Whether you're a seasoned dancer, a curious beginner, or simply someone who loves to move, REVEL REVEL is your space. Our kaupapa centers community, inclusion, and the transformative power of dance to bring people together.
