Come and have fun while you learn how to make your own banner!
This workshop is inspired by the “Be A Good Ancestor” banner made and displayed by local environmentalist Jenny Easton (who will be present) and you’re welcome to use these words for your own design, or come up something else.
The workshop theme is love for nature, and climate action.
We will be cutting, stitching, sewing and printing letters onto sturdy material to hang on our fences and in our windows. Experienced banner makers will be present to get you started, and you'll be able to use Magenta's equipment (sewing machines, stencils, some paints). Some textile and fabric supplies will be available but we are also counting on people to source and provide where they can. For outdoor banners, sturdy polyester works well.
Completing a banner may take longer than four hours, so we will assess at the end of the session whether to run a second workshop.
This is a non-partisan cooperative exercise, supported by the Nelson Tasman Climate Forum, and may become a monthly meeting, depending on interest.
All are welcome.
Please let us know if you have excess fabric and textile supplies that you’d like to contribute. Email:
