- 9:30 AM - Check-in plus coffee and snacks.

- 10 AM - Session 1 featuring Josh Moenning, John Hansen and Kevin Connot. The collaboration of experts will focus on how rural economic growth with renewable energy projects can benefit entire communities. Energy development is economic development.

Josh Moenning: Josh is director of the energy group New Power Nebraska and owns and operates a small business in the field of renewable energy development. He served as Mayor of Norfolk, Nebraska, from 2016 to 2024 and as a Norfolk City Councilman from 2012-2016. He also assists his family's beef business and has two children. He's worked in the Nebraska Legislature, for the U.S. House of Representatives, and as executive director of the infrastructure development group 4 Lanes 4 Nebraska.

John Hansen: John has served as the elected President of the Nebraska Farmers Union since 1990 and is currently the longest serving president. At the national level, Hansen serves the National Farmers Union in a variety of roles. Additionally, John currently serves on USDA's Nebraska State Technical Committee; Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Farm Crisis Council; and on the Board of Directors for the Coalition for a Prosperous America. Hansen has served as Chair or Co-Chair of the Wind and Solar Conference since 2007. For his service, John has received a variety of awards from groups such as the Center for Rural Affairs, Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society, U.S. Department Of Energy, American Corn Growers Association, the Nebraska Rural Radio Association's distinguished “Service to Agriculture” award in 2018.

Kevin Connot: Kevin has a broad perspective regarding the benefits of renewable energy in rural Nebraska from his experience as a school board member, main street business owner near a utility scale wind project, as well as his experience as a renewable energy developer. He lives in the Allen, Nebraska area which is home to the Rattlesnake Creek Wind project, a 320 MW facility built in 2018. He has seen the property tax relief for all area residents and the benefit to his and other local businesses that result from large scale projects. In addition, he has adopted small-scale solar for his business partly as a marketing asset to be able to represent to customers and stakeholders their commitment to sustainability. He has a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and an MBA from Wayne State College.

- 11 AM - Session 2 featuring Nancy and Alan Meyer who will discuss their solar powered regenerative farm.

Nancy and Alan Meyer: Alan and Nancy moved into their 1904 farm home on five rural acres in summer 2000. Over the years they have restored the home in an environmentally conscious way while also maintaining and developing the grounds to provide as much of their food needs as possible. Today they have two solar arrays, passive solar, solar hot water, geothermal heating and cooling, and other alternative energy installations and techniques that mean this 3200 sq ft all-electric home requires only $600 in annual electricity bills. Included in their electric bill is the cost of charging two electric cars and battery-powered yard equipment. The deinstallation of their propane tank occurred in January 2024, completing their home's transition from fossil fuel usage. The installation of a battery bank early this summer may allow the property to be disconnected from the grid in 2026.
