Greetings Comrades,
We are Thrilled to announce that for the first time ever, ZDSA will be hosting the Youth Oral Health Summit with the tagline “Empowering Youths to be Drivers of Oral Health Promotion”, in September 2025.
Oral health is a critical component of overall health and well-being, yet it remains one of the most neglected aspects of public health—particularly the underserved communities. In many communities, especially in low-resource settings, there is limited awareness and inadequate access to preventive oral health services. This leads to widespread dental problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral infections that negatively impact quality of life and contribute to broader health complications.
Young people, particularly those in health-related academic programs, represent a dynamic and influential population capable of driving systemic change. When properly informed and equipped, youths can act as ambassadors of oral health within their schools, families, and communities. They can leverage peer influence, social media, and community outreach to raise awareness, promote healthy practices, and advocate for stronger oral health policies. However, there exists a gap in awareness, training, and engagement among youths regarding the importance of oral health as part of overall ell-being.
This summit is designed to inspire, educate, and empower youths to take active roles in shaping the future of oral health in their regions. By fostering leadership, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Summit aims to cultivate a generation of informed advocates committed to improving oral health outcomes and reducing health disparities in their communities.
This program will bring together, Dental, Medical, Biomedical, Public/Environmental, Nursing/Midwifery, and all students in Health Related Programs and highschool students.
We call upon the support of the populace in the planning of this wonderful event.
