Denis Comtet – Lille Cathedral (France)

Internationally-acclaimed concert organist and choral conductor Denis Comtet opens our ambitious 18th season of the First Music Concert Series. The Paris Conservatory graduate was born in Versailles and has given solo concerts at Notre Dame de Paris, Chartres Cathedral, Saint Paul Church London and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral New York City. He currently serves as Titular (head) organist of Lille Cathedral in France. He is also a renown choral conductor with many professional choirs on the European continent.

This is the beginning of our 100th Birthday celebration of the massive Anderson Memorial Organ (Austin Organ Company – Opus 1406 from 1926, restored in 2015). Come hear him take the Austin through its paces, in a program which will delight both organ connoisseur and newcomer alike! Works by Bach, Dupré-Haendel, Fauré, Vierne and others.
