HINOTORI Phoenix of Mountain and Phoenix of Sea with LIVE music

New works by acclaimed Japanese theatre director Hiroshi Koike, brought to life by a global ensemble of performers and musicians from Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia and Poland.

“Hinotori” (bird of fire, phoenix) evokes Osamu Tezuka’s legendary manga while resonating with the universal symbol of the phoenix—a sign of rebirth and renewal. At its heart HINOTORI asks: What does it mean to be human in a chaotic and uncertain world?

Through live music, multilingual performance and a genre-defying approach, journey into a space where boundaries of language culture and form dissolve. See traditional Japanese theatre such as Noh and Nihonbuyo in a contemporary setting alongside traditional Indonesian dance and jazz music.

Novelist Banana Yoshimoto writes:

Drawing inspiration from world literature, mythology and Tezuka Osamu’s legendary manga Hinotori. The production offers a layered global performance that challenges convention while celebrating the shared human spirit.
