Mark Seekamp was raised in a musically inclined family in the suburbs of Chicago. He started playing guitar at age 10 with a group of kids at church called “Strings and Things”. Most of the songs he first learned were hymns, camp songs and Christmas carols.
In his teen years, Mark was heavily influenced by artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, Larry Norman, The Beatles, America, Eagles, and Phil Keaggy. At the time, there were no Country music radio stations in Chicago, so Mark started learning all the classic ‘70’s rock songs and Christian rock.
In the ‘80s, Mark toured for a year doing concerts and teen ministry with a band called “Covenant”. He also became enamored with the blues after attending the Chicago Blues festival several times.
Today Mark plays music from multiple genres and has a band that plays regularly in the Murfreesboro area. He’s sort of a human juke box so his shows are unpredictable and always fun! Guest musicians are always welcome to join him on stage at his shows and they usually do!
Jim Seekamp has been writing and recording music since the early 1980s, and has written almost 1,000 songs.
He recorded his first album, "The Secret Kingdom" in 1985 and has recorded 34 total albums between his solo projects and his current band Xylem.
He enjoys playing the 1970s songs for fun between recordings, and has an extensive Jethro Tull set, along with Moody Blues songs and songs by other 1970s musicians.
