DJ Funky Junkie is without a doubt one of the most renowned Serbian names in the world of Afro-American influenced dance music. With over 40 years behind the decks, multiple digital releases, and two vinyl records to his name, he has played countless clubs and festivals – it’s almost easier to list the places where he hasn’t performed.
He gained international recognition through his celebrated compilations Idi, igraj!, which showcased disco, jazz, funk, and soul from the former Yugoslavia. Over the years, he has shared the stage with legends such as Dave Lee (Joey Negro), The Brand New Heavies, Faze Action, Jazzanova, Shuya Okino, DJ Alfredo, Hernan Cattaneo, Bob Sinclar, Aroop Roy, Amir, and many more.
Together with his longtime friend DJ Ceka, he also performs under the name The Funk Soul Brothers. He co-founded the Nisomnia Festival and served as both organizer and musical director of the Midnight Jazzdance Stage at the Nišville Jazz Festival.
A passionate record collector, DJ, producer, promoter, and organizer of numerous events in Serbia and beyond, Funky Junkie remains a dedicated advocate for quality, organic club sound.
