Save the date for our next Veritas Lecture with Pastor Matt Scharf.

“Gospel Ministry - Gift, Giver, and Getter”
It's easy to speak about the grace and love of God in an abstract kind of way - it's out there somewhere, because it's everywhere - which is about as useful as saying - it's nowhere. Rather than remain in obscurity, God locates his gracious, saving presence for humanity's benefit to work faith where and when it pleases him. The Deity, who is eternally free, bound himself to external means so that bound sinners could be set free eternally. Through the gospel in Word and Sacrament, Christ delivers his saving love to us, unites us to himself and each other, and empowers our thoroughly embodied witness to an increasingly disembodied world.
Matt Scharf began his pastoral ministry in 2013 as a tutor (instructor and dormitory supervisor) at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. In 2016 he was reassigned to serve as the assistant to the president of the Nebraska District of WELS at Hope Lutheran Church in Manhattan, KS. After seven years of ministry in the Flint Hills of Kansas, Pastor Scharf accepted a call to serve as pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in downtown Milwaukee where he's served since July 2023. He is married to Rachel and the Lord has blessed them with five children. The Scharf family enjoys spending time together in any way they can - given the young age of their children, much of that quality time takes place at area parks, libraries, splash pads, beaches, and walks around the neighborhood.
Following this presentation, join us for our Prayer at the Close of Day Service at 7:30pm.
