Mountain View Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training prepares local residents to help themselves, their families and neighbors in the event of a disaster.

The training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services may not be available. CERT members receive training in earthquake awareness, disaster fire suppression techniques, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, and team organization and management.

The CERT Class Series consists of 5 evenings (Tuesday & Thursday from 6:30-9:30 pm) and one Sunday (Field Day from 1:00-5:00 pm). Attendance on all 6 dates is required for certification.

All evening CERT classes are held in the auditorium at the Police/Fire Administration Building at 1000 Villa Street in Mountain View. The Saturday Field Day/Graduation is held at Fire Station #4; 229 N Whisman Street in Mountain View.

• Thursday 9/25: 6:30-9:30 p.m. - Disaster Preparedness
• Tuesday 9/30: 6:30-9:30 p.m. - Disaster Medical Operations (part 1)
• Thursday 10/2: 6:30-9:30 p.m. - Disaster Medical Operations (part 2) & Disaster Psychology
• Tuesday 10/7: 6:30-9:30 p.m. - Light Search and Rescue & Terrorism Awareness
• Thursday 10/9: 6:30-9:30 p.m. - Team Organization & Fire Suppression
• Saturday 10/11: 1:00-5:00 p.m. - Field Day Disaster Simulation (at Fire Station #4)

This training course is open to individuals who live or work in Mountain View and the surrounding communities.
