About the event

Everything Old is New Again: A Cabaret Concert & Conversation
A conversation and exploration of songs from disparate genres to see which songs are truly new.

About this Event

"Everything Old is New Again: A Cabaret Concert & Conversation" is a conversation and exploration between three artists covering songs from disparate genres to see which songs are truly new. Diving deeply into the meaning inside and behind the song, selections will be drawn from the canons of art song, opera, musical theater, jazz, popular, and world music. Featured artists include countertenor and sopranist Von Bringhurst, vocalist Adesuwa O, and pianist Paola Rapaj Kraja.

Von Bringhurst (he/they) is a countertenor and sopranist. He holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance degree from the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, MA, and a Bachelor of Science in Voice from Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID. He enjoys a varied career as a soloist and ensemble member, including Clerestory, Força Chorus, Harvard Early Music Society, the Video Game Orchestra, and Xerces Blue Ensemble. Von is also a member of CSMA's music faculty.

Adesuwa O is a multi-disciplinary creative vocalist who connects music through voice, movement, and rhythm. Through storytelling and the freedom of improvisation, her musical style echoes the ancestral ties of her father’s Nigerian heritage and the flavors of her mother’s southern roots. After earning her vocal music degree in Jazz Studies at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University, she began to perform in the NYC area and beyond. She is a member of CSMA's music faculty.

Paola Rapaj Kraja is an Albanian pianist, pedagogue, and songwriter holding dual master's degrees in Piano Performance and Music Education from Charles University and the Prague Conservatory. With over 20 years of experience, she has performed as a soloist and with orchestras across Italy, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Albania, and the United States.
