Scott Rippe of Rippeology

Our speaker this month is Scott Rippe, who is new to Mount Horeb along with his husband of 29 years. He is the weather enthusiast behind Rippeology, a Facebook community page with nearly 43,000 followers in southern Wisconsin. Scott spent the first 37 years of his career in media, advertising and marketing, but now follows his childhood weather passion full-time with forecasts, weather education, and occasional adult humor at Rippeology.

From the perspective of a shy kid who came out to his mother in 1982, a different environment for the LGBTQIA+ community, Scott will share a bit of his own story of self-awareness and the family support systems that allowed him to be himself as he entered adulthood. He will talk about some of the lessons he has learned about the best and most appreciated ways to support and understand loved ones. And naturally, he'll chat a bit about the heavy gay presence in the meteorological community.
