Battle of the Badges returning to Larson Playfield
The Moses Lake Police Department will be taking on the Grant County Sheriff's Office - WA in the annual Battle of the Badges charity softball game on Sept. 4th, with first pitch at 6:30 pm.
The MLPD squad will be gunning for their fourth consecutive win (the elusive double-deuce). MLPD will be returning a strong squad of former college softball and baseball players, as well as some soccer players for when we need a pinch runner. Bolstering the squad this year will be our newest signing, Moses Lake High School’s own Cameron Duke, who played his college ball at Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho. (Fun fact: we moved the start time of the game back to give Cameron time to get to the ballpark after finishing his workday at the Academy.) Cameron’s grandpa, retired Sergeant Dennis Duke, will be the head umpire for the game. If you know Dennis though, don’t expect any favors for Cameron…
GCSO will bring much of the same crew they had last year, just a year older. After MLPD’s recent win streak, GCSO has gotten very good at graciously losing.
All joking aside, this is a great event, and all proceeds go to support the MLPD Community Outreach program. And we love GCSO. The tailgate starts at 5 pm, and there will be kids' activities and raffle items available. We are working on some pretty special things for this year’s event, so please stay tuned! All proceeds to be donated to a non-profit organization.
