East Chevington Nature Reserve Loop

I have permission for us to have free parking here using the 6 spaces at the gate. More space may be available depending on football fixtures. It is also possible to park on the adjacent road.
How to get there: Driving north on the A1068 once past the Widdrington Roundabout turn off left for Red Row. Turn right at the Gingerbread Café and pass The Brick Club. Turn left through metal gates into Red Row Welfare and park. At the time of writing the sign was obscured by foliage. This is just before you would rejoin the A1068.
The Walk: We will be walking on good flat easy paths with access to several bird hides. We’ll call in at a couple so bring binoculars, especially the birders amongst us. We will stop for lunch at Druridge Country Park Visitors’ Centre which has toilets and food available. We will proceed along the beach/sand dunes and then come back into the nature reserve. This is mainly a haven for small creatures such as butterflies and birds so I’m not promising sweeping herds of wildebeest.
