The Sculpture Smackdown is a high-energy, hands-on art competition where local artists, students, and community members team up to build original sculptures out of a surprise mix of materials. Throughout the event, teams face unexpected twists, rule changes, and last-minute challenges that push their creativity to new heights. The results are imaginative, often hilarious, and always inspiring!
What makes this event truly special is the way it brings people together. Artists and students collaborate, community members cheer them on, and spectators get to experience the creative process up close. It’s not just about the finished sculptures—it’s about the connections made, the laughter shared, and the sense of pride in Morgantown’s thriving arts community.
This year’s Sculpture Smackdown 2 will take place during Downtown Morgantown’s First Friday for the Arts, the city’s well-established monthly gallery crawl that celebrates local art, music, and community connection.
