Halford Bridge Inn*
The Lion, Tredington are proud to host this years Dowling and Etherington Aunt Sally Handicap Cup Match on the 31st August, to commemorate the lives of two people very special to our local Aunt Sally contingent. Sadly they’ve both passed away in recent years, and in their memory the Aunt Sally Dowling and Etherington handicap cup was born! Mr Etherington was the original captain of the Lion team, and Mr Dowling was a part of the Halford Bridge Inn Team. All proceeds raised from the event are to be split equally between the British Heart Foundation and The Dogs Trust, the two charities that were closest to their hearts. The event takes place once a year, between the Lion B team and the Halford bridge Inn team, and the winning side get to take home the esteemed trophy and have ultimate bragging rights for the next year.
The event will run from 2:30pm to 7pm
at the Lion Pub, Tredington, and will consist of the main match between ourselves and the Halford, plus a chance for anyone else who’s interested to have a throw themselves. The raffle draw will also take place, and our fabulous chef Dan will be doing food for the event. It should be a cracking day, with lots of laughs, most likely far too much beer, and a very unique experience for the uninitiated.
So come along, soak up the atmosphere, and cheer on your favourite team! Then pick up the sticks and show us what you’ve got! It’s the perfect opportunity to find out what on Earth this mysterious, traditional pub game is all about, and why we love it so much.
