Ernestine Ashworth spends her 17th birthday agonizing over her place in the universe. Soon she’s 18. Then 41. Then 107. In ninety minutes, we travel through a century of birthdays — five generations, one kitchen, and a single cake baked over a lifetime.

Funny, poignant, and deeply human, Birthday Candles reminds us how the ordinary moments of life become extraordinary when shared.
