Before visiting the 1770’s during our living history weekend on Saturday and Sunday, step back in time to 1859 for a special preview event with the famed 19th Century writer and naturalist Henry David Thoreau!
Mr. Thoreau - portrayed by Historian Richard Smith - will read selections from his essay, "Walking". Afterward he will take questions (in character) for an entertaining and educational look into Thoreau's life in 19th Century Concord, Massachusetts. Come ready with questions for Mr. Thoreau!
Richard Smith has been portraying Henry Thoreau for 26 years. While he spends most of his time (as Thoreau) at Walden Pond, he also travels a great deal, and has performed as Thoreau across the country and in Canada.
This program will be followed by a wine and cheese reception. Included in the price of the ticket is a preview of the reenactor camps before the main event opens to the public on Saturday morning at 10 am.
