Hawks, Hills & Hidden Trails: A Fall Hike through Montclair

Distance: \~8 miles (plus optional 5-mile extension)
Start: Montclair Heights Station
End: Little Falls Station

We’ll pass through the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens, stroll along the wooded trails of Mills Reservation, and stop at the Montclair Hawk Watch, where we can enjoy sweeping skyline views of New York City. Part of our route follows the Lenape Trail, a well-loved regional trail that links parks and preserves across northern New Jersey.
The hike finishes at Little Falls Station, with time to explore the Little Falls waterfront and trace remnants of the historic Morris Canal. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy crisp air, colorful foliage, and classic North Jersey scenery.
