The Indoor Zone at Kings Playhouse will serve as a lively, hands-on Winterval hub where families and visitors are invited to come inside, warm up, and take part in creative play at their own pace.
The theatre-based play area will encourage participants to try on costumes and explore props, read short scripts, and act out scenes together in an informal, supportive environment. Children and families can brave the spotlight, experiment with performance, or simply observe and participate in whatever way feels comfortable, with volunteers on hand to guide and support the experience.
In the gallery, walls will be covered with construction paper to create a Winterval Community Gallery. Visitors of all ages will be invited to add their own drawings, designs, messages, or creative touches directly to the walls, contributing to a shared, evolving artwork that grows throughout the weekend. Additional colouring stations will be available for those who prefer seated or quieter creative activities.
Dedication Hall will feature informal community stations hosted by invited local businesses and partners, along with gentle live background music that adds to the Winterval atmosphere without disrupting activities.
Complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate will be available throughout the afternoon, helping create a warm and welcoming indoor gathering space to escape the cold and explore different methods of creative expression.
