In the days and weeks leading up to Remembrance Day, we often think of the soldiers from the area, their service and their sacrifice.
It is for this reason, we, here at the Murray Harbour And Area Historical Society, are thrilled to invite not only our Society members but the general public to attend an evening with Captain Greg Gallant, curator of the Prince Edward Island Regiment Museum. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 7PM to 9PM.
Captain Gallant will be bringing some memories from the museum and will share his vast knowledge of the military, provincially, nationally and globally.
Captain Gallant has been actively involved in commemorating Veterans for as long as his family and comrades can remember. At the age of nine, he joined the Navy League and, by 1977, he had served more than 26 years as Reserve Officer with the PEI Regiment. This eventually led him to the position of Curator with the PEI Regiment Museum. Captain Gallant opened the Museum in 1989, contributing much of his personal collection of memorabilia. The museum has since grown substantially, owing in good measure to the time, effort and leadership of Mr. Gallant. The museum has been ranked among the top third of museums rated by the Department of National Defence, the only reserve force museum to earn this standing.
After Captain Gallantβs presentation, we encourage you to ask Captain Gallant questions or share your loved ones (or your stories) about their military service or and military items you would like to share.
