Trees be our Valentine!
Join the Stream Team this Valentine's Day, for a volunteer planting event helping to restore habitat along a local salmon stream. Plant trees with your sweeties, or show up with your love for our planet, to help us make a difference for Woods Creek- a tributary to the Skykomish River. Stewardship is carried out through acts of love, and, after all, what's more romantic than restoring spawning habitat?

More about this project:
In the summer of 2023 AASF worked with our partners to remove an abandoned creosote-log railroad trestle that had been polluting Woods Creek since 1939, and created a barrier to salmon migration. We also installed in-stream log structures to create spawning and rearing habitat for native salmon (including endangered Chinook).
Since the bridge removal the Stream Team (and volunteers like YOU!) have been working hard to restore the riparian zone of Woods Creek, by removing invasive species, planting native trees and shrubs, and mulching those native plants to ensure they will grow to provide shade, so that the stream can maintain proper water temperature and sustain a healthy salmon run.
