“In metta, we work to develop feelings of ease and love as boundless as the oceans that nourish and sustain our world,”
~ Josh Korda
Would you like to learn ‘loving kindness’ meditation? Are you a seasoned meditator looking for a community to join? Would you like TO; breath, ground, center, restore and offer the benefits to self, other, and all all beings? If you feel any kind of ‘yes’ inside, join us in ‘the round’—Sacred Dwelling’s beautiful yurt surrounded by nature’s embrace. All are welcome.
What is Metta?
‘Metta’ meditation or loving kindness practice is a Buddhist practice for cultivating compassion for ourselves and others through directing loving, friendly phrases and goodwill. Metta is a concentration and mindfulness practice that invites the practitioner into a more loving, connected state of mind.
The word “Metta” is a Pali word, most often translated as loving-kindness, but can be translated as universal goodwill or loving-friendliness. Through Metta, we become more honest and loving toward ourselves and the world around us.
In Metta meditation, we wish happiness, safety, and ease toward ourselves and others, including beings we struggle with. It can be practiced anywhere, anytime, be it on a meditation cushion, driving in traffic, or walking down a busy street. The practice has immense benefits and can help us cultivate a loving heart. ♥️
In the first half, we will:
- Open circle together with connection, intention, and
gratitude
- Embody through gentle movement
- Sit in circle for a guided Metta meditation
In the second half, we will
We will move to the floor to further relax and surrender. Savannah, from Ethereal Sound and Wellness, will offer us a soothing sound bath with crystal singing bowls and other percussion instruments. It’s an opportunity to let the body regulate, reset, and restore.
This event is ‘Dāna’ based |a.k.a. donation.
Dana: “Dāna” (pron. dahna) is a Sanskrit and Pali word meaning “generosity” or “giving.” In Buddhism, it also refers to the practice of cultivating generosity.
We are giving this offering from the heart and basis of our personal dharma (life’s purpose) in the world. It’s important to us that these services are accessible to all. Nobody is turned away due to financial circumstance.
We would appreciate your reciprocity to support our offerings, missions, and heart work. Suggested donation for this kind of event is $35-$65. No amount is too small. Also, if you are called to give more, it’s a beautiful act of generosity that benefits all. Thank you!
What to Bring:
Blanket, Pillow, mat, cushion (For sound bath). There are some yoga mats, extra blankets, etc. in the yurt.
An altar item to place in the center if desired
Patience, curiosity, willingness, an open heart, and a friend
We look forward to being together in sacred circle for this heartfelt effective practice and sound bath nourishment. Healing from the Inside out and intentionally creating loving kindness truly is a socially active way to change world.
Let’s stay strong and double down on love and practice conscious awareness with ourselves, others, and the living world. 🌿 We stay the course of light bearers and helpers the best we can. 💪🏽 ♥️
