Writing Your Own Obituary

The Mondovi Public Library and Friends of the Mondovi Public Library are delighted to welcome CeCelia Zorn!

About the session:

Wondering how to best have your last say? Learn how to write an obituary that includes necessary information but is also personal, concise, and memorable. This relaxed, hands-on class with an accomplished author and award-winning teacher will include (a) specific parts of an obituary, (b) common characteristics, and (c) media considerations. A full handout with many helpful details and examples will be provided. Come prepared to plan your obituary and have fun!

About the presenter:

CeCelia Zorn is a registered nurse, accomplished author, and an award-winning emerita faculty from the University of WI-Eau Claire. She has taught many classes at area senior centers, Chippewa Valley Learning in Retirement, Academy for Lifelong Learners at UW-Eau Claire, high schools, and writing groups since her retirement from the university. These classes have included a focus on obituary writing, fiction and memoir writing, and the process she used to write her two novels: “Angels Don’t Get Tattoos” and “Devils Don’t Wear Velvet.” She has also co-authored a 10-part series on obituary writing in the Senior Review. Participants in CeCelia’s obituary-writing classes say, “Best workshop ever!” “Well-organized & handout very helpful,” and “Pleasant speaker; useful content presented in a personal way.”
