Join us on a walking quest to find the Hartfell Spa Well and explore its healing properties.
It will be a day for ideas and discussions exploring the cultural history of the Spa Well and its surrounding geology. Led by Dr Jan Hogarth, eco artist and learning officer for SCAMP - Landscape Connections, we will explore how we connected with water through time for wellbeing.
As we walk to Hartfell Spa, famous for its water with healing and prophetic qualities, we will explore the nature of ‘ a quest to heal’ and what it might mean for us, for the surrounding landscape and our planet.
If you’re interested in engaging with place and nature, are struggling with nature loss or climate concerns or if you’re curious about the continuing relevance of the healing powers of this chalybeate well, then join us for what promises to be a wonderful day in the hills exploring the past and reflecting on healing solutions for the future.
Please bring a packed lunch and dress for the weather with sensible shoes/wellies for walking. If we are fortunate enough to get a beautiful day you may need to bring some suncream! The walk is about 3/3.5 hours and requires a moderate level of fitness with uneven ground, grassy paths, boggy in places, and rough loose stone tracks at points.
The ImMerse Festival is part of our SCAMP Landscape Connections project with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and D&G Climate Hub. ImMerse is delivered by a partnership including SCAMP - Landscape Connectons, D&G Climate Hub and Annan Harbour Action Group.
