Old Gippstown Heritage Park warmly invites you, your group/club to take part in our upcoming Community Working Bee
Here at the Park we provide educational tours for our children, ghost tours for thrill seekers and seniors group tours and picnic areas as well, not to mention the events we host for families each school holidays and the lovely weddings that are held here. Everyone benefits from all the park has to offer and we hope that as a community we can come together to make sure this entrance to the wonderful Latrobe Valley region can look the best it can, with your help.
Old Gippstown is a treasured part of our local history, and with your support, we hope to give the Park a spruce-up before the busy summer visitor season. As anyone with a garden will attest to, it's spring and the garden and grass is a non-stop job; we have 8 acres of park and garden to care for and a dwindling, aged volunteer group to do the hard yards. We are so proud of the work they do week in and week out but right now it's proving a bit much to handle.
A working bee is a wonderful way to connect with other community members and groups, enjoy a day outdoors, and contribute to preserving our shared heritage.
What we’ll be doing:
· Light gardening and weeding
· Clearing pathways
· General tidy-ups
· Simple maintenance tasks
(We’ll ensure tasks suit all capabilities.)
What we provide:
· Some tools and supplies
· A friendly orientation on the day
· Sausage sizzle and refreshments for all volunteers
· Plenty of smiles and stories along the way!
What to bring:
· Closed-toe shoes
. Gloves
· Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
· A water bottle
· Your team spirit!
