📣 FOOD NOT FASCISM! FUND SNAP, NOT ICE! SOLIDARITY NOT CHARITY 📣
Join us on Saturday, December 13th, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Dr. and Paradise Rd. in west Modesto from 10 AM - 3 PM, for a community-powered mutual aid event and protest against recent SNAP cuts! In recent weeks, cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) have had devastating consequences for poor and working-class families across the United States. While people are already struggling under the weight of low wages, skyrocketing rents, rising prices, and cuts to basic services, attacks on SNAP have left many scrambling to make ends meet in a country where up to 40% of children rely on access to food stamps. The rich and powerful are literally starving the poor, as the Trump administration pushes through tax cuts for billionaires, corporations report record profits, and wealth inequality only continues to grow.
When the state neglects the people, we step up to take care of each other. On Saturday, December 13th, we will distribute free food to those impacted by the ongoing crisis while also peacefully gathering to hold signs and banners denouncing the ongoing attacks on our social safety net and demanding an end to escalating state repression. Together, let us send a united message that we want FOOD NOT FASCISM!
Help spread the word and contribute to this event:
- Donate to our mutual aid fund (will be used to buy bulk food to distribute): Venmo @CVBIPOCC / Cash App $CVBIPOCC **please write “Food Not Fascism” in the note for the transaction**
- Bring canned goods, shelf-stable items, fruits & veggies to give away/share
- Bring tables, signs, banners, and chairs
- Have your local group, labor union, church, or organization support and share our flyer (online and IRL)
Who takes care of us? We take care of us!
