From Berlin comes four of their best young actors from the ”Ernst Busch Theatre School” lead by Kaspar Wachinger.
Written in 1970 by the great Comedy writer and actor DARIO FO is a satirical play . The play follows a “Maniac,” a master of disguise and impersonation, who infiltrates the police headquarters to investigate the murder and expose police corruption and lies surrounding the event.
The play is set in a Milan police headquarters a few weeks after the “accidental” death of an anarchist detainee who fell from a window. The Maniac, who has a talent for impersonation, arrives and pretends to be the judge overseeing the investigation. He manipulates the police officers, forcing them to reenact the interrogation and exposing their contradictory statements and attempts to cover up the truth. The Maniac reveals that the police are connected to far-right militants who were likely responsible for a bombing the anarchist was suspected of. Throughout the play, the Maniac mocks the police’s incompetence and corruption while secretly recording their confessions. In the end, he presents the audience with a dilemma: should they side with the corrupt authorities or embrace the potentially dangerous truth.
