TESTIMONY. "I'm back to how I was before": This Breton man shares his journey after receiving a kidney transplant.
One in ten people in France is affected by kidney disease. As National Kidney Week begins Thursday, March 6, 2025, Noël Brouard, a 68-year-old resident of Lamballe (Côtes-d'Armor), recounts the transplant he underwent and his courageous journey.
Noël Brouard, a 68-year-old resident of Lamballe-Armor (Côtes-d'Armor), received a kidney transplant in 2024. As part of National Kidney Week, he shares his courageous journey, which now allows him to "be like before."
During a medical visit, when Noël Brouard was 58, a "young" doctor, a substitute, made the connection between his high blood pressure problems and his kidneys. "I had no pain or physical fatigue," he says. It was after an ultrasound, followed by "a whole battery of tests," that the verdict came in. Both of Noël Brouard's kidneys contained cancer cells.
We found two kidney donors and replaced both of his kidneys.
Today, very happy with this operation, he says, "I feel so much in my body like never before."
