Art Class: Bookbinding Basics

Ready to turn your prints, pages, and paper experiments into beautiful, handbound books? Head to the CMA for a day exploring the magic of making books from scratch. Learn three versatile and creative binding techniques — Japanese stab binding, coptic binding, and saddle stitching — at this fun, hands-on workshop. All materials and equipment are provided, but feel free to bring pages to work with or just come ready to learn. Those taking August 9’s Riso Printing Workshop are encouraged to bring in the prints they made to work with in this class. All attendees leave with their own handmade creations, a toolkit of skills, and a new appreciation for the art of bookbinding. Taught by designer and educator Stephanie Nace.
No experience required. Ages 15 and up. All supplies and equipment provided. $120 / $96 for members. Priority registration for members only through Wednesday, July 9.
