Protect the Centre: A Community Fundraiser for Willow River Centre
Advertisement
Willow River Centre is the only Indigenous, two-spirit, and queer-led non-profit organization in the Waterloo Region, and it’s at risk of permanent closure.
The Willow River Centre has been a vital gathering place rooted in Indigenous leadership and care. It has provided a home for healing, organizing, and cultural resurgence for those most often pushed to the margins.
But without sustainable funding or institutional support, the Centre may be forced to shut down. This isn’t just a funding issue: it’s a reflection of the ongoing colonial dispossession, the systemic erasure of Indigenous life, and the refusal to return land or resources to the communities that rightfully steward them.
Now is the time to show up. To stand beside Indigenous community members and protect the only space of its kind in our region.
Join us on Monday, July 7 at 5:00 PM at Victoria Park Pavilion for the Protect the Centre Fundraiser! It will be night of raffles, auctions, prizes and shared food.
All proceeds go to supporting the Centre.
