Creating Concepts and Content Using Printmaking Techniques
with Maritza Dávila

Maritza Dávila is the owner of Atabeira Press and Professor Emeritus at Memphis College of Art, where she taught printmaking and drawing from 1982 to 2018. She currently teaches workshops through Creative Aging and the Dixon Gallery and Gardens.

Dávila has exhibited internationally, with work in collections such as the National Libraries of Spain, France, and the U.S., as well as museums in Puerto Rico and Argentina. Her residencies include Taller ACE (Buenos Aires) and Normal Editions (Illinois State University).

She has collaborated on murals and interdisciplinary projects with artists and poets around the world and served as a visiting artist in Spain and Puerto Rico. Dávila has received numerous awards, including the ArtsMemphis Accelerator Award, UrbanArt Commission honors, and international printmaking prizes.

A committed community advocate, she has served on the boards of Latino Memphis and the Centro Cultural Latino, and has mentored emerging artists through multiple Southern Graphics International Conferences.
