All meet ups are free and open to the public to attend. Must be 18+. All sessions are hosted in person at the AARC. No need to have finished the book to attend, though recommended. See below for Hyphenated's reading list and meet up dates.
This Arab is Queer: An Anthology by LGBTQ+ Arab Writers edited by Elias Jahshan
This ground-breaking anthology features the compelling and courageous memoirs of eighteen queer Arab writers. From a military base in the Gulf to loving whispers caught between the bedsheets; and from touring overseas as a drag queen to a concert in Cairo where the rainbow flag was raised to a crowd of thousands, this collection celebrates the true colours of a vibrant Arab queer experience.
The Asian American Resource Center’s mission is to create a space of belonging and healing for Asian American communities in Austin and beyond. We do this through community collaborations and partnerships; providing rental space; organizing cultural, educational and health wellness programs; and curating art and historical exhibitions. We lead with our values and our vision, so that our diverse communities are supported and connected.
