An evening with the bouzouki with Hebble and Anestis Saraliotis
Join us for a night of rare and beautiful tunes played on Greek bouzouki, oud, cello, and bodhran. Hebble and Anestis Saraliotis sweep through a rich variety of folk traditions from Central & Eastern Europe, the Balkan peninsula, the Mediterranean and the British Isles. In multiple languages, and with overlapping cultural pivots the songs and tunes are crafted and interwoven in modern, lively, and vital arrangements. Come and participate in honouring the people’s music of the continent and feel the earth of heritage wobble beneath you.
HEBBLE
Travelling folk songs whispered over seas and valleys. The deep thud of the skin drum, the soaring sweep of the cello, the light breeze of guitar and bouzouki. Lively world folk – upbeat and interactive with twists of the alternative, and plenty of three-part harmonies. Folk standards, catchy choruses, belting rhythms, and tunes to make the heart sing.
ANESTIS
Music is the way the heart communicates with the soul. Life-long bouzouki player and singer of Rebétiko (Greek folk music), Anestis roots the Greek tradition into the north of England. His heartfelt bouzouki and oud playing accompanying his rich singing voice is bound to bring you with him.
