Charabanc Outings for July
July is going to be a special month of Charabanc as we are having two outings, one will be to
Tabley House, Knutsford and Knutsford Heritage Centre. Thursday 10th July
I chose this outing as it is not far, so back in time for the evening performances at the festival.
Tabley House tells the intriguing history of the Leicester family. As well as visiting the State Rooms of Tabley, it is celebrating Turner 250 years since his birth and this connection with the house and family. Turner stayed at the house in 1808 and painted 2 paintings of the house and the park Windy Day and the other Calm Morning. Windy Day can be seen in the drawing room of the house.
Tabley’s St Peters Chapel recently was the location in the wedding scene in BBC Peaky Binders and has impressive stained glass, one window was designed by Burne-Jones.
Tabley house has a café.
Knutsford Heritage Centre gives us a change to view and enjoy the 40’ famous Knutsford tapestry created by 3000 local people over a period of 4 years all about Knutsford. We are booked to have a talk about the tapestry.
Cost £24 which includes coach travel, driver’s tip, entry into the House and the talk about the Knutsford Tapestry and entry into Knutsford heritage Centre.
