Bargaining for the Common Good, the AFL-CIO, Faith in Action, and the Wendland-Cook Program in Religion and Justice at Vanderbilt are excited to announce Spirit + Solidarity: a training to deepen the organizing and power-building skills of faith leaders, students, and organizers. The goal is to develop the tools of organizing in relation to faith communities and to win campaigns for economic and racial justice.

The next four years are going to challenge working people and labor movements like never before. With the rise of the religious right, xenophobia, and attacks on working people, it is critical that our movements have a plan to engage faith communities across the political spectrum. This organizing training will move beyond the transactional “rent-a-collar” approach to labor-faith partnerships and will train faith leaders in transformational value-based organizing skills and theological frameworks that transform congregations and deeply engage worker organizations and communities.
