ABOUT THE EXHIBIT: "Rooted is a visual timeline that traces my growth from youth to now. Shaped by the soil of the ’80s, my culture, my family, and the people who poured into me. These pieces honor where I come from: the lessons, the love, the labor, and the legacy. Rooted is about family bonds, lifelong friendships, internal peace, unconditional love, and independent thought. It’s also about passing down wisdom and sharing the fruits of our labor. To be rooted is to understand your history and heritage. It’s about recognizing and showing gratitude for both the journey and the destination. Because to know where you’re going, you have to understand where you came from."

BIO: Born in 1980 & raised in Southfield, MI, I grew up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Black American music, sports, fashion, and films of the 1980s and 90s. These influences shaped my creative identity and fueled my passion for visual storytelling. With a B.A. in Product Design and over 20 years of experience in lighting design, graphic design, and fine art, I’ve developed a multifaceted approach to my craft. My work evolves with my life experiences, utilizing diverse mediums to reflect my emotions. Aspiring to achieve international recognition, I believe my artistic journey has just begun.
