About this Event

Join us for a vibrant evening of celebration, community, and reflection as we honor 25 years of impact, resilience, and transformation in Detroit’s North End.

Hosted on the grounds of the Oakland Avenue Urban Farm, this free community gala will feature:

  • Live music performances
  • Art in the Alley and live art installations
  • Storytelling from community members
  • Delicious local food
  • Raffles and giveaways
  • A joyful space for connection and collective pride

This year’s theme, “Soles in the Garden,” honors the roots we've planted over the past two and a half decades—through food justice, youth empowerment, art, healing workforce development, and land stewardship.

What began in 1999 as Rev. Bertha L. Carter distributing meals from her van has blossomed into a 10-acre cultural and agricultural campus. Today, Northend Christian CDC leads innovative initiatives including the Oakland Avenue Urban Farm, the Detroit Cultivator Community Land Trust, and the Black Farmer Land Fund—all working to preserve the neighborhood's cultural and economic future.

This evening is not only a tribute to the past—it is a declaration of our community’s future.

This event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required. Your registration helps us plan for seating, food, and accommodations.
