Cut Paper Design and Technique Workshop

Workshop Description: Intro to designing cut-paper artwork, and creating layered pieces with bold outlines cut from black paper, with blocks of colored paper glued behind. Finishing touches are added with paints.

Instructor Bio: Valisa’s artwork is inspired by her connection to her natural surroundings and community. She grew up watching her mom cut silk-screens and her dad carve intricate images in wood. With their encouragement she combined her background in drawing and love of bold colors with the medium of cut-paper. Valisa was born and raised in Alaska and began developing her technique in high school. Moving away for college, she traveled and lived in different places, collecting experiences and inspiration.Returning home, Valisa opened a studio in her dad's old shop. She commutes in a rowboat, seeing something interesting every day.
