About Broken Images — A Theatrical Powerhouse
Broken Images is a psychological monodrama written by the eminent playwright Girish Karnad and directed by the theatre legend Alyque Padamsee. The play has received widespread acclaim across the globe including productions in India, the UK, the U.S., and Canada.
The narrative centers around Manjula Sharma, a Hindi novelist who suddenly achieves fame after publishing an English-language novel. The twist: during a television interview, her own pre recorded image, projected on a screen and begins to challenge and confront her, leading to an intense internal dialogue of identity, language, guilt, and self-realization.
