Outdoor – Walk Learn Remove Improve
Are you someone who wants to make a difference for nature and the people of the Fraser Valley? Do you want to see invasive plant species being managed? If so we want you on our team! We’re looking for energetic volunteers to help us clear some invasive plants at Centennial Park in Mission. All tools and training will be provided. We will be working in mucky wet areas of about ankle-deep water. Please wear rubber boots.
Before we take action Jon our Habitat Enhancement Coordinator will take us on a short walk to share information about species that call Centennial Park home.
Volunteer Assets:
Be able to bend kneel and pull.
Capable of working on uneven and sloped terrain.
Comfortable using gardening tools such as shovels trowels and hand pruners.
Be able to differentiate between invasive plant species and native plant species.
Species being removed are Himalayan blackberry and yellow flag iris.
