Born in Trinidad and now based in Brooklyn, NY, BROWNMAN ALI is heralded by New York’s Village Voice magazine as “Canada’s pre-eminent jazz trumpet player” & considered an iconic name in the Canadian jazz community. Tonight he revisits his swing roots, shaped by his time studying under iconic Duke Ellington Orchestra trumpet soloist CLARK TERRY. Brownman is a multi-award winning jazz trumpet virtuoso who has worked with the likes of Wayne Shorter, John Scofield, Paul Simon, Quincy Jones & hip-hop legends Guru, Jay-z, KRS-1, Mos Def, Kanye West & Missy Elliot. Winner of 2 National Jazz Awards, 10 Global Music Awards & multiple JUNO nominations.
