After seven months of negotiations, and seven mediation sessions as of Oct. 21, it’s time to settle contracts that provide a roadmap for making MPS a Destination District. This means:
Reasonable class sizes. Enforceable class size limits so every student receives more one-on-one time and support.
Enhanced special education staffing. Contractual caseload caps to ensure students receive the services and care they need and deserve.
Better wages, more respect for ESPs. Wage increases and steady hours to keep these trusted, yet sorely underpaid, educators in MPS for our students.
Pay parity for Adult Educators. Salary raises so those who help parents, immigrants, and lifelong learners build brighter futures are on par with other licensed teachers in MPS.
Competitive compensation for licensed educators. Fair pay for MPS teachers and licensed staff, whose earnings lag behind their peers in similar districts.
MPS has the flexibility in its budget to make these things happen, and these are the investments that MPS families themselves have said will help keep them in our district. It’s time to settle the contracts that our students, families and educators deserve.
MPS students, families and community members are welcome!
