call and response — created and performed by jess pretty — is a casual yet devotional gathering: a soirée, a salon, a kickback that welcomes audiences into a generous space of listening, witnessing, and moving. the performance offers a glimpse into interiority — the moods, methods, and quiet technologies that are practiced, protected, and passed down in ways that don’t always ask to be named. it moves through Black femme lineages — the women, femmes, aunties, and queer kin whose everyday brilliance shape the world, often without being acknowledged aloud.

drawing on the energies of ritual, hangout, concert, and dance party, call and response invites us to slow down, feel our way through, and practice presence — not as performance, but as a way of moving forward
