A Fusion of Science and Sound: Greendale WI Chapter Quartets to Perform at

On October 10, 2025 at 10am, barbershop harmony will take center stage in one of the most unique and acoustically advanced facilities in the world. TheGreendale WI Chapter’s own Forward Fusion and Lakefront quartets are partnering with Orfield Labs in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for an intimate and groundbreaking musical experience that brings the heart of barbershop into the world of science.

A Barbershop First at a Record-Setting Venue

Orfield Labs is known internationally for its innovative acoustic spaces. The lab holds the Guinness World Record for the quietest place on Earth with itsanechoic chamber, which measures at an astonishing -9.4 decibels. In this space, all sound reflections are eliminated, allowing every nuance of the human voice to be heard in unmatched clarity.

In addition to the anechoic chamber, the lab features a reverberation room, designed to create the exact opposite effect. Here, sound lingers and bounces, enhancing overtones and offering a dramatic environment for vocal music. Orfield Labs also holds the distinction of being home to the first digital recording studio in the world, making it a true historical landmark.

Forward Fusion and Lakefront will each perform selections that highlight the unique features of both acoustic environments. Because of space limitations at Orfield Labs, this special performance will be limited to just 20 audience members. Tickets will be sold for $75 each (Regularly $90-$200 each)
